The Localization Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that client projects are delivered according to specifications, timelines, and quality standards. This role provides essential engineering and technical support to both the Project Management team and the Design department, helping to streamline workflows, resolve technical challenges, and optimize localization processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform localization engineering on English and foreign language electronic files to meet the client's requirements.
  • Receive project requirements from Project Manager or Team Lead.
  • Perform engineering of files using appropriate software and TMS to deliver output files in the format required by the customer.
  • Provide additional AI project support to the CTO as needed, especially regarding localization engineering.
  • Receive and respond to task requests from the CTO and Director of Operations.

Requisitos

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Artificial Intelligence, Translation and Localization or related fields.
  • Related experience: More than 3 years up to 5 years.
  • Minimum three years of experience working in the localization industry in a similar position.

Soft Skills:

  • High attention to detail and cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with an automation-first approach.
  • Curiosity about linguistic diversity and AI language behavior.

NLP & AI Exposure:

  • Familiarity with language models, tokenization, and language identification.
  • Experience working with LLMs (like GPT, BERT), speech-to-text, or NLU tools.
  • Understanding of multilingual data pipelines, fine-tuning, and evaluation.

Localization-Specific Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) best practices.
  • Experience with string extraction, pseudo-localization, and LQA.
  • Ability to engineer workflows that support multi-language content delivery.
  • Familiarity with locale-specific formatting, such as dates, currencies, and number formats.

Testing & QA Skills:

  • Ability to write localization test cases and perform LQA (Localization Quality Assurance).
  • Experience with:
    • Automated UI testing for multilingual applications.
    • Language model evaluation across locales.
    • Regression testing for localized outputs.
    • Bug tracking tools: JIRA, TestRail, or equivalent.

Experience with Loc Engineering Tools:

  • CAT tools: SDL Trados, memoQ, Plunet, and Phrase.
  • File processing: JSON, XML, YAML, PO, and XLIFF.
  • Version control: Git/GitHub/GitLab.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with LLM localization (e.g., prompt engineering for multiple languages).
  • Experience localizing AI chatbots, voice assistants, or generative AI interfaces.
  • Fluency in one or more non-English languages.
