The Interpreter Services Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Interpreter Services department. This position ensures scheduling and staffing to provide interpreter coverage. The Supervisor is responsible for reviewing and prioritizing service requests, assigning interpreters for both emergency and ongoing needs, and maintaining open communication with interpreters during assignments.
In addition, the role includes tracking interpreters’ locations and statuses, ensuring all required documentation is accurately completed, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and organizational policies. The Supervisor will manage staff training, performance monitoring, and quality assurance to ensure high standards of service delivery in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare daily and monthly interpreter schedules to ensure language coverage. Adjust schedules as needed for unplanned absences, and coordinate with contracted interpreting agencies to fill gaps.
- Oversee the performance of interpreter staff, providing ongoing training, feedback, and disciplinary action as necessary. Conduct regular meetings to discuss assignments, review procedures, and ensure staff alignment with department goals
- Monitor and ensure compliance regulations.
- Track trends within interpreters staff. Analyze data and make recommendations for quality and process improvement.
- Keep up to date with Medical Interpreting Ethics and Standards of Practice for regular and per diem interpreter staff.
- Provide education and training on Medical Interpreting Ethics and Standards of Practice to regular and per diem interpreter staff.
Requisitos
Requirements:
- A minimum of three-year experience in medical interpreting, preferably in a supervisor or coordinator capacity.
- Prior experience as a Coordinator or Medical interpreter.
- Strong communication skills and well-developed writing skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and health care systems preferred.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and train staff, evaluate performance, and make informed decisions to maintain department efficiency.
- Familiarity with scheduling software, data tracking, and reporting tools to monitor performance metrics.
